What to expect:
After running QSC in Brighton since 2024 we're excited to be in launching this session in Macclesfield to bring LGBTQIA+ people together to move, connect, and build confidence.
This space is exclusively for our queer community!
Whether you're completely new to the gym or already have experience with strength training, this class is beginner-friendly and designed to meet you where you're at. You'll be coached and supported throughout the session, with every movement demonstrated and adapted to suit different bodies, abilities, and experience levels.
This is your space to get stronger, have fun, and feel good in your body - without the "gym bro" energy or diet-culture pressure. There's none of that here.
Queer Strength Club is different
We focus on regulation over reps. The goal is to help you build sustainable strength and mobility in a way that feels joyful not a chore. We’re here to reclaim the gym as a place where we belong, building confidence in our bodies while finding connection with each other.
Class Structure
I use the same warm-up and cool-down every single class to create a sense of predictability and comfort for your nervous system.
Here's an idea of how the session will run:
5-10 min: Welcome & Grounding Warm-up.
10 min: Workshop / Skill / Practice of Compound Lift
25-30 mins: Main Strength Circuit (using body weight and equipment).
5-10 min: Cool-down & Wrap-up.
What to expect in the session:
All movements are demonstrated with multiple adaptations given.
Full autonomy: Rest and adapt whenever you need, for as long as you need.
Integrated mindfulness to help with body awareness and energy management.
High energy and music that's uplifting, motivating and silly.
Venue & Accessibility
This is a Queer Strength Club session hosted within a CrossFit gym environment.
It is not a CrossFit class.
CrossFit MaxOn have been running Lift with Pride - a series of LGBTQIA+ fitness sessions with a very similar mission, so this venue felt like a natural fit.
The session will prioritise accessibility, nervous system awareness, adaptability, community and inclusion.
Intensity can always be dialled up or down depending on individual needs.
Access: The gym is on the ground floor.
Facilities: Gender-neutral accessible toilets are available on-site.
Environment: The gym will be lit mainly with sunlight from the windows but we try to keep the light as low as possible. There will be loud music.
Sensory Support: You are very welcome to bring earplugs, fidget toys, or tinted eyewear. And you can step out of class whenever you need to, safely.
Parking: There is free parking available.
